2018 CALPCC Conference
San Francisco State University
April 20 & 21, 2018

Social Justice Starts with Us: Building a Responsive Behavioral Health Workforce

Call for Proposals

Join CALPCC for our annual statewide conference on April 20th & 21st, 2018 at San Francisco State University! We are currently seeking proposals for 90-minute education, roundtable, and poster sessions. Please read carefully and follow the instructions in order to be considered for a presentation.

Proposal Submissions

This year we are streamlining our proposal submissions and education session offerings, and will offer themed tracks. In line with this, we are seeking social justice focused proposals that fall into one of the following six tracks:

  1. Historically marginalized communities including LGBTQ and communities of color
  2. Disability and Disability Competency
  3. Professional Issues related to Law & Ethics
  4. Interprofessional collaboration and Integrated Behavioral Healthcare
  5. Culturally Competent Supervision
  6. Trauma-informed Care

Attention should be given to working with diverse populations (broadly defined) and meeting varied client needs. All proposals should clearly support the theme of the conference with an emphasis on helping attendees build counseling skills and identifying opportunities for utilizing these skills in practice settings.

The conference learning objectives are as follows:

  • Social justice-oriented counseling with historically marginalized communities
  • Professional issues including culturally responsive supervision, ethics, and changes to state and national laws and policies
  • Systems change approaches including mental health recovery model, trauma-informed care, interprofessional collaboration, and integrated behavioral health models.

Proposals Must:

  • Include Learning Objectives -- Provide statements in specific and measurable terms that describe what attendees will know or be able to do as a result of participating in your workshop. Learning objectives help to guide the presenter in planning and delivery of information, guide attendees in their choice of workshops, and allow for analysis of levels of training and learning offered at the conference.
  • Include Curriculum Vitae or Resume of lead presenters -- To offer CEUs to your attendees, we MUST have a current CV or resume and the lead presenters must meet at least two of the four requirements listed in the proposal form.
  • Participants must identify the track for which they are submitting their proposal.
  • Be submitted online via the Call for Proposals form by January 26, 2018 at 11:59 pm PST.

Proposal Review Process

Complete proposals (submitted with a resume/CV for all presenters) will undergo a double-blind review process. Presenters will be notified of acceptance beginning February 28, 2018. Those whose proposals are not accepted will also be notified.

Proposal Acceptance

If your proposal is accepted for presentation at the CALPCC Conference, you must register as an attendee and present as scheduled. There are no discounted registration fees for presenters. Any other costs associated with presenting, including transportation, lodging, and meals (outside of light breakfast and lunch provided on site), will not be covered by CALPCC and are the responsibility of each presenter. Bios, Titles, and Abstracts are subject to editing by CALPCC. Any changes or additions will be shared with the presenter(s) for approval.
