The presentation will cover private practice topics including ethics, record-keeping, office management, insurance issues, supervision and consultation.

Measurable learning objectives:

Upon completion of the workshop, attendees should be able to:

  1. Articulate ethical responsibilities and standards of counseling and supervision with respect to private practice as outlined in the Codes of Ethics of the American Counseling Association.
  2. Demonstrate best practices for office management, advertising and record keeping to meet legal and ethical requirements also outlined in the statutes and regulations by the BBS (Board of Behavioral Sciences).
  3. Identify insurance-related issues private practitioners encounter including the pros and cons of participating on insurance panels versus out of network and private pay, including HIPAA considerations.
