Although our Suicide Prevention and Assessment live series is well underway, you are still able to register and attend the sessions to earn your 6 Continuing Education credits.
While you may not be able to attend all of the live sessions, you will be able to gain access to the courses through our new education catalog. Here you will be able to view past courses, take a short exam, and fill out an evaluation to receive your credit. If you attend the live sessions, you will be qualified for credit by your attendance and filling out an evaluation at the end of the session.
About the Series:
The Continuing Education for Suicide Risk Assessment and Intervention series will review basic suicide assessment and safety planning for professional clinical counselors. The training addresses the need for clinicians to develop an awareness of their own values and attitudes that impact their ability to engage in effective suicide assessment and intervention.
Trainees will also learn how to identify warning signs and practice inquiry skills to assess the significance of such behaviors, thoughts, and feelings, and they will learn how to directly ask about suicide. Attendees will practice providing accurate reflection in order to explore ambivalence regarding suicide, and how to complete a suicide action plan. Clinicians will also identify practices to help them manage their own emotional stress and reactivity in order to prevent burnout.
Each meeting is 1 hour and participants attending all 6 meetings will meet the BBS requirement (effective January 2021) of 6 hours of coursework (5 Live Sessions & 1 Zoom pre-recording).
CEUs apply to LPCCs, LMFTs, LCSWs, or LEPs only as required by the BBS and will be issued within up to 60 days.
