Join CALPCC as we host our first fireside chat with Suzzette Garcia, LPCC, President CALPCC Board of Directors and Kenneth Edwards LPCC, Executive Director of CALPCC as we discuss recent social shifts and how we as counselors are duty bound to engage with these issues. On the forefront, we have reproductive rights, immigration, LGBTQ+ rights, and more. As an association, we often weigh in on these important issues and seek to reinforce the ethical duty that we ALL have to work with our clients who have to live through these social changes everyday.
During the chat, Suzzette and Kenneth will work to facilitate a conversation that might be challenging as we hear from those that may not agree with the association’s position on issues. The conversation will challenge deeply held values and weigh those against our inherent charge as counselors to meet our clients where THEY are.
Come prepared with your own thoughts and questions as we navigate how we show up as counselors even when our own views do not line up with those of our clients and patients.
