Developing as a Counselor-In-Training: A Symposium For Us, By Us.

This is the time, more than ever, to unite as students and associates in an online symposium geared towards us.

Join us on April 3, 2021, as we present and share research from students and associates in a virtual conference, as well as hear from experts in the field about adapting to the current climate, reflecting and recovering from what has happened, and developing our professional and personal identities.

Registration opens 3/13/21.

CALL FOR PROPOSALS

DESCRIPTION

This symposium is a great chance to flex your presentation skills amongst peers and colleagues (as well as a great line to add to your resume). Do you have research you've been working on you'd like to share? We want to see it!

We will be offering limited 15-minute poster sessions to see what you've been working on, followed by a 5-minute Q&A.

We're seeking poster session proposals that fall into one of the these 4 tracks:

  • Counseling techniques and skills 
  • Multicultural competencies 
  • Self care and self awareness 
  • Professional Identity

PROPOSAL TIMELINE

Call for proposals opens: 2/19/21
Deadline to submit proposals: 3/5/21
Notifications of acceptance: 3/15/21
Registration opens: 3/13/21
Symposium: 4/3/21 9-1 PT

INSTRUCTIONS:

All proposals are due by 3/5/21 at 11:59pm.

REQUIRED DOCUMENTS TO BE SUBMITTED WITH ONLINE APPLICATION

As part of the application, you'll be asked to upload the following:

1) A PDF or Word file containing the narrative info on your presentation. We recommend you use our template (Word | Google Doc | PDF) as guidance.  This file should contain:

  • Presentation Title
  • Poster Session Abstract  (120 words maximum)
  • Session Summary: including overview, clinical, scholarly, or scientific significance; session structure/outline (500 words maximum)
  • Discussion Point - Please indicate how this presentation relates to the symposium theme (500 words maximum):

  • Bio (100 words maximum) for each (co-)presenter
2) CV or resume for each presenter

3) Headshot (no larger than 500kb) of each presenter.
