Member Rate Increases Take Effect 9/1/2023

Heads up! On Sept. 1, 2023:

1. All CALPCC membership fees increase. This applies both to new applications and renewals.

2. Clinical and Associate memberships are merging to the new “Professional” membership level.

Please see the FAQ below for details.

We have not increased membership rates since the inception of the association over 10 years ago–with the exception of the Lifetime Membership category, nearly 2 years ago.

As with the rest of our economy, our costs have skyrocketed, including:

Payroll and personnel needed to directly support membership

Costs related to technology systems that support our growth
Costs related to providing membership benefits, including our Legal Line services, consult groups, etc.

As counselors, we empathize with a rise in costs and how this may affect our members. We did not take this decision lightly, and delayed this inevitable rate increase the past 2 years.

You have until Aug. 25 to upgrade at our current rate before prices go up ($200 savings).

We are extremely proud of what we have accomplished these past many years in terms of our work in advocating for the LPCC license, providing networking and continuing education opportunities, and increasing overall benefits for your membership. We hope you find value in what we do, too!

We have many new changes coming ahead, including our in-person Conference, a new networking and community platform, new courses and more. We’re excited with what’s next and we want you there with us.

More changes happening September 1st:

We will be merging our Clinical and Affiliate membership levels. If you are a member at this level, you will be converted to the new Professional membership at CALPCC. There will be no changes to your benefits; this is simply to streamline our offerings.

As always, we are committed to ensuring that you find value in your membership and continue to support us as we support you through advocacy.

Rate Change FAQ for current members

How much are membership rates going up starting Sept. 1?

All membership rates are going up roughly 25%. New members will join and current members will renew at the following rates:

Will I be charged on Sept. 1?

No, unless your current renewal date is set to happen on Sept. 1, you will not be charged until your next scheduled renewal date. Fees will go up on all renewals Sept. 1 and beyond. Your scheduled renewal date is: Never.

Can I renew early for additional years at the current rate?

Unfortunately, no. You can only stay at your current rate until your next renewal date. However, you can upgrade to the Lifetime membership before rates go up and save $200! See below.

How do I upgrade to Lifetime before prices change ($200 savings)?

If your scheduled renewal date is between now and Sept. 30, 2023:

You can upgrade yourself! Just log into your profile, remove/cancel autorenewal with your payment method, and click the “Change” link next to your current membership level. This gives you the option of selecting Lifetime and you can proceed. We recommend doing this by Aug. 30 at the latest to head off any system conflicts.
If your scheduled renewal date is after Sept 30, 2023: let us handle your upgrade to Lifetime so we can prorate you for the months you’ve already prepaid. We’ll apply that time left on your current membership and your upgrade to Lifetime will cost even less!

What if I don’t agree to this rate change?

You always have the option to cancel your membership. When you joined, you agreed to auto-renewal, so to cancel: we highly recommend that you log into your account to remove your payment method/autorenewal from your account and cancel autorenewal at least 24 hours prior to your next renewal date.

Your account will then automatically lapse after your renewal date and grace period have passed, and you will be removed from all listservs that you’re subscribed to.

If you’d like our help in canceling your membership: please contact us well in advance of your scheduled renewal date, and we will cancel for you. Note that we have a no-refunds policy after your renewal date, so let us assist you in advance.
