These movies offer a surprisingly rich framework for exploring themes such as emotional regulation and the role of primary emotions, internal “parts” and inner dialogue, similar to Internal Family Systems; developmental transitions and identity formation; and the adaptive role of emotions like grief and sadness. They also highlight how visual storytelling can be a powerful psychoeducational tool for clients.
